Breanne’s Book Corner – Spirituality

I am a huge bookworm and absolutely LOVE reading. As a kid, it was the one thing you could always find me doing. My mom was constantly trying to get me to go outside and play, but I just took a book outside to read instead. Most weekends, you can still find me on a blanket at Cemetery Park with a vanilla oat milk latte from Singing Sun and a good book. Pure happiness! Books are some of the things that have contributed the most to my growth as a person, whether it was inspiring creativity, allowing my imagination to run free or teaching me about myself, how to heal or how to continue becoming a better version of myself. I haven’t found an instance where a book hasn’t been able to make something better whether I was going through a crisis or just needed a fun book to read on a trip. As you can imagine, I have so many favorite books, so I thought I would write periodic posts to share some of them with you. This week, I am recommending some of my favorite books on our connection to the Universe and spirituality. This is an incredibly personal topic and means something different to everyone. Whether you connect to God, the Universe, Spirit, your inner self or any other iteration of spirituality, these books speak to our connection and relationship to something bigger than ourselves.

· The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer

I find myself coming back to this book time and time again. I’ve practically highlighted the entire thing, since it is that good. It is a guide to navigating our thoughts and emotions without getting stuck there. So often, we contribute to our own suffering and fail to see how much we can impact when we channel our energy in positive ways.

“If you are willing to experience the gift of life instead of fighting with it, you will be moved to the depth of your being.”

· When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron

I found this book a few years ago when I was working through the very painful ending of a relationship. Navigating change, especially unwanted change, is an area of continual growth for me, and this book made it easier and put things in perspective. It’s also full of lessons for life in general. The only constant is change, and most of us need support to find comfort in the space of uncertainty.

“Trying to get lasting security teaches us a lot, because if we never try to do it, we never notice that it can’t be done.”

· Signs by Laura Lynne Jackson

I came to this book after a very special loved one passed away, and it was so comforting to read about all of the ways the Universe and our “team of light” speak to us in signs, especially once we start asking for them. This is another book I come back to regularly for encouragement and inspiration.

“When we make decisions that are love-based and not fear-based, we move on to a higher life path.”

· The Book of Secrets by Deepak Chopra

This book is all about the secrets that can change our lives and how to open up to all of the possibilities available to us every day. This isn’t a book that you read and then put on the shelf. It has such deep, yet simple practices and wisdom to incorporate into our lives. I’ve found it is most impactful to absorb smaller pieces at a time so I can truly take the practices that resonate most with me and build them into my days.

“Try to see the possibilities in whatever happens.”

· Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein

I would actually recommend all of Gabby’s books, but this one really spoke to me over the past year, as I have gotten deeper into manifesting work. She has a way of making manifestation accessible and focuses more on ways to feel good in our lives, which brings a high vibrational energy to us. Gratitude is also such an integral component to attracting more of what we want in our lives.

“The moment you let go and allow, an energy of support will take over.”

Have you read any of these yet? What are some of your favorite books that you turn to when you need some inspiration? Let me know in the comments. If you would like to purchase any of these titles, I would encourage you to shop at your local bookstore to support small business. If you are in Ventura, check out Timbre Books, just across the street from The Pharm. The owners are so sweet and kind and will also order anything for you, if they don’t already have it in stock. Happy reading!
