Meet Carrie Sablan

By Breanne Szabados

As if we didn’t already have a wealth of fabulous instructors and classes at The Pharm, we recently welcomed three more to the Phamily. I am going to start a new blog series so all of you can get to know more about these amazing individuals. First up, we have barre instructor, Carrie Sablan. I asked Carrie a few questions about her journey.

· How long have you been a member at The Pharm?

I have been a member at The Pharm for about two years this month.

· What is your favorite class to take at The Pharm and why?

I have taken almost every class offered, and I really feel it depends on what my body is needing as to my favorite class. They each offer a little something different. I guess, I enjoy barre, yoga and Pilates feeling like my body responds well to the deep impact that these offer. However as I said, my body needs meditation and quiet as well.

· What inspired you to become certified to teach barre?

Barre has really made such an impact on me. I enjoy the movement combining ballet, yoga and Pilates. Using our body for a full body workout, and the mental and emotional balance it provided to me inspired me to want to share this with others. Just a different way to get to know your body.

· What is one thing you want people to take away from your classes?

I would like all who take the class to walk away knowing that they accomplished something. It might be just showing up, maybe it is being able to complete the class with confidence that they are getting to know their body and achieve exercise in a safe and fun place.

· How has being a part of The Pharm community impacted you?

When I was looking at a studio to begin my fitness journey, I looked at all Ventura had to offer. There are many choices, and it was important to me that I was in a welcoming, safe and nurturing environment. Somewhere I felt a part of, and I found it from the first time I looked at the website and the first time I walked in the door. I have made some amazing friends who feel like Phamily and hope to give my own contribution and reach out to share this with others.

Carrie teaches Barre Express on Tuesday mornings at 6am. Her class is a 45-minute version of the traditional barre workout. For those who are new to barre, this workout combines elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and strength training.

Stay tuned for future posts focusing on the other new instructors at The Pharm!
