Gratitude for Community

Gratitude for Community

By Breanne Szabados

I was so excited to hear that the themes at The Pharm for August were Phamily and gratitude for this amazing community. I’m sure I have mentioned it in previous blog posts, but personally, I am immensely grateful for this beautiful Pharm community. It has enhanced my life in countless ways since I joined the studio in early 2021. From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew it was a very special place. Not only the gorgeous space, but every single person in class, all of the teachers and staff and Buffy, our fearless leader and founder. Truly, the energy of The Pharm has always started with Buffy’s example of kindness and a deep sense of care for the community.

It is a true honor to be able to contribute to this community through the blog and to be witness to the growth and impact of the studio. I am in awe of all of the special and unique workshops and classes that are offered, and that the Pharm team continues to raise the bar on the offerings that are available. It is also an incredibly inclusive space, and I am so proud to be a member of this community, even in a small way.

I have never been a huge fan of group fitness classes or gyms and worked out at home on my own for years. I found The Pharm through taking classes with Ventura Pop-Up Yoga, as some of the teachers also taught at The Pharm. I tentatively started taking barre classes and quickly realized that this was unlike any other studio or gym space I had ever experienced before. I have never felt judged or uncomfortable. Instead, this community is endlessly encouraging, friendly and helpful to everyone who walks through the doors. I have seen it countless times and have experienced it myself. Every teacher is attentive, kind, genuinely interested in each student both in class and in their individual lives and experiences. The team gets to know everyone and is always trying to find ways to include others in deeper ways that make our community stronger. As an introvert and a typically shy person, it is not always easy for me to open up or make new friends, but I have met so many wonderful people through the studio. I want to express my sincere gratitude for this very special place and for the people who exemplify community, inclusivity, kindness and caring – Buffy, Lauren, Claudia, and all of the teachers and students. If you haven’t experienced what makes The Pharm so special, we hope that you will join us for a class or workshop soon. There are so many wonderful offerings, so there is truly something for everyone.
